Meet the Teachers Monday: Morgan Windram-Geddes

Welcome to the FIRST #meettheteachermonday for Yoga Lee!

Each week we will be featuring one of the fabulous members of our yoga teacher team so you can better get to know them and find connection on AND off the mat.

Here at Yoga Lee, we are lucky to have a diverse group of teachers with a wide range of yoga teacher trainings, passions and hobbies. The studio is so much for than a studio space for us— it’s a place for community, for connection and for compassion. So with that in mind, let’s learn a little bit more about your favorite yoga teachers…..

First up.. Morgan Windram-Geddes

Morgan is a woman of many passions. Not only is she a yoga teacher but she has a certificate in Horticulture from the Berkshire Botanical Gardens, achieved a professional Ski Instructor (PSIA) Level-I qualification, and is an international cross country and ultra-distance runner.  She's been running long distances since she was 15

Let’s dive into the interview…

Tell us about your first yoga class- did you love it? hate it? what kind of class was it?

It was an Iyengar class at the Iyengar Center for Well-being in Lamont Pennsylvania. I was in awe and fascinated by the use of all the props. I felt strong and at ease and for the first time in a long time my mind was able to quiet and I enjoyed my body movement.

What made you want to take your first 200 hour YTT?

I was at a stressful time in life completing a PhD while caring for toddler twin girls living in a country far from home and family. I was also still suffering from a 10 year long relationship with anorexia.  I needed time and space to consider next steps and life changes so I embarked on a YTT.

What made you want to teach yoga?

I went to a lot of classes and experienced a lot of yoga which felt like it was either repetitive or physically focused. I wanted to teach something that would resonated with people more spiritually and individually. Most of us lead lives of busy-ness. I didn’t want to add to that through my yoga teaching. I wanted to contribute in a way that would help people find balance in their lives.

What is your FAVORITE class to teach at Yoga Lee? What is your favorite class to take at Yoga Lee?

Teach: Feel balanced! Take: Feel nourished

What is something that Yoga has taught you?

To listen to my body and answer it with love and care. To pause. To respond rather than react. To find my voice.

What is something you wish you could tell every yoga student that walked into your class?

It’s not about touching your toes or achieving an instagram worthy arm balance; it’s about getting your mind and body to work together so that you can take what you do here in class and apply it to the other aspects of your life.

What other forms of movement and exercise do you love?

Running, XC and downhill skiing but mostly running!

If you aren't in a yoga class, where can you be found?

Running, gardening, coaching track and field

Yoga Teacher, Morgan, Practicing Cow Facing POse in the Linden Alley

Tell us about your favorite playlist/musicians/songs below.

Don’t listen to a whole lotta music (or play it in class) but I love Jon Baez, Mumford and sons, Adele, U2, and a band called Clandestine.

Tell us one fun fact about you!

The longest distance I’ve run/races is 110 miles.

What's your favorite snack?

Salt and pepper cashews, Berkshire Mountain Bakery Bread and Chocolate- toasted with lots of butter!

Last but not least, what's the best way to your heart?

Signing me up for a trail race and then taking me for dinner afterwards to hopefully celebrate!
