Up next for #meettheteachermonday for Yoga Lee!

Each week we will be featuring one of the fabulous members of our yoga teacher team so you can better get to know them and find connection on AND off the mat.

This week we are so excited to share more about your favorite yoga teacher— Victoria or Tori!

Tori is our resident massage therapist AT Yoga Lee as well as a mother, a maker and a picture taker. If you haven’t experienced the pure MAGIC of Tori’s massages than you are missing you— she has an intuitive touch that is both gentle and deep, she truly knows how to read what the body needs. She is a sweet soul who touches a fun and engaging class.

Let’s dive into the interview…

Tell us about your first yoga class- did you love it? hate it? what kind of class was it?

My first yoga class was in high school. My mom brought me. It was either in Dalton or on South Street in Pittsfield…Our recollections differ. I loved it. It was a vinyasa flow type class. There was candles and being the youngest most flexible person in the room I could do pretty much every pose the teacher offered. I thought it was super fun and an interesting new way to move my body.

What made you want to take your first 200 hour YTT?

I can’t really remember what made me do it. It was a tumultuous time in my life and was doing a lot of bouncing around between jobs, relationships, places I lived. I think honestly I thought it would “help me figure it all out”. Spoiler alert: it didn’t, but I sure helped me see the yoga of everything. Also, I had the best teachers and loved their yoga so that made it an easy choice. Shout out to my teachers GR and KW.

What made you want to teach yoga?

What’s that saying? If you want to truly learn something, teach it?

What is your FAVORITE class to teach at Yoga Lee? What is your favorite class to take at Yoga Lee?

Favorite class to teach is Feel Powerful. I love coming up with hard sequences with fun transitions that make you use muscles you didn’t know you had. Think lots of poses that require balance. I love when my students come to class when they need to metabolize a big feeling or let out some frustration. Right now my schedule only allows for me to do yoga at home, but I love a feel strong or feel good class.

What is something that Yoga has taught you?

That the ease is just as important as the effort. You can’t always force things sometimes things only happen when you surrender. Light because of dark. Always coming back to things with a beginners mind, remembering that even though things may feel repetitive or cyclical they’re always something new to learn.

What is something you wish you could tell every yoga student that walked into your class?

Yoga is a practice. Everytime you come to it it can look different than any other time you’ve practiced. Yogas only purpose is to calm the fluctuations of the mind, this can happen on and off the mat.

What other forms of movement and exercise do you love?

Playing with my toddler, Dancing, snowboarding, biking, walking, paddling, pretty much anything outside in nature.

If you aren't in a yoga class, where can you be found?

With my 3 yo, giving someone a massage, driving somewhere, at home, at the grocery store, or in my bed. Life is pretty routine these days. Occasionally on a mountain, in a sauna or out to dinner.

Drop your favorite playlist/musicians/songs below.

60’s Gold satellite radio station has been on in my truck lately. My yoga class playlists mix all genres.

Tell us one fun fact about you!

My last name means little flower in Italian.

What's your favorite snack?

Sweet:Cherry Garcia or Mint Chocolate chip Ice Cream salty: chips and salsa or guac or potato chips and cottage cheese.

Last but not least, what's the best way to your heart?

high quality dark chocolate. Rose scent. A good fire. A perfectly curated playlist. A nostalgic 80’s movie.
